Bridget's Gazette - 100 things about me - it's not that hard!

About 100 things about me - it's not that hard!

Previous Entry 100 things about me - it's not that hard! Jan. 3rd, 2009 @ 11:26 pm Next Entry
I did this last night because some people on facebook and on twitter were saying that it seemed so hard and difficult to do.

Here's what I posted on facebook:

It is currently 11:55pm Central.

Now, to try to write 100 things about me. It CAN be done!

1. I used to hate people calling me "Bridge," but I don't mind it so much by now.
2. I still really hate when people who should know better write my name "Bridgette" and not "Bridget."
3. when I was a freshman in high school, I did my term paper on the career of journalism, so by the time I got to college, I knew that I wanted to write, but I didn't want to major in English, so I chose journalism.
4. When I was supposed to do my intern for journalism, none of the papers would even accept an intern for college credit and no pay, so Dr. Overduin waived the requirement as I wanted to go into creative writing.
5. When I applied to the MFA for creative writing, no spots were open.
6. However, for quite awhile I had felt called to youth ministry, so have tried to decide pursuing that for quite awhile.
7. If I am again denied acceptance to Luther's distributive learning course, I will apply for the MFA again. I may do short stories and fiction tihs time, though, as I tried poetry last time.
8. I like a lot of TV shows, but I actually don't watch that much TV.
9. The thing is that I like to have the television on as background noise a lot of times because I just like it to sound like people are around me - so being out in public is also a good option.
10. I've found that when I write fiction, I need to listen to classical music if anything, so I don't get too caught up in the lyrics.
11. However, when I write articles for Associated Content, I can listen to almost anything.
12. I love to wear jazz shoes because I'm generally a prancy person, even if somewhat of a klutz.
13. I don't know why, but I just cannot stomach vegetables. They mess me up really well.
14. I don't like seafood at all. It's kind of the same, but not quite.
15. I always felt that my Daddy wanted me to be a boy.
16. It has always felt like my sister is the favorite daughter.
17. I like to watch Craig Ferguson at night because he is just so goofy.
18. I can laugh at things that are so wrong if they are based on the premise of being stupid and so wrong.
19. I was raised Lutheran (ELCA) and still am.
20. I know attend an Episcopal church.
21. I can't balance on a bike (but do have an adult trike).
22. I can't swim (even though I've tried and tried.)
23. The friend that I've had for the longest, I met in 2nd grade.
24. At first, I thought this friend was a spoiled rotten brat and that we'd never be friends.
25. However, there is one person outside of my family that I've known longer because we've always gone to school together.
26. My faith is extremely important to me.
27. A guy that prays and has a great faith in God is very attractive to me.
28. The people in my favorite band cannot sing well, but they know good music and are very funny.
29. My favorite singer/songwriter is Jonathan Rundman.
30. The best music for driving in the car is Jonathan Rundman's music. I love listening to his music while driving.
31. I have worn contacts and at times I do enjoy them.
32. I am never sure what to say to people when they tell me how thick my hair is or how well it styles because I've heard it all my life.
33. It seems more people remember me than I ever remember.
34. I love dogs.
35. I love to take pictures of things.
36. I love to take pictures with friends and former classmates.
37. I only first sang karaoke in the past year.
38. I have tried doing improvisational comedy with my sister (and she didn't really get it, so it didn't work well.)
39. I tried doing standup comedy at the Frosty Factory. I got more laughs than the other comedians, but I still was not good at all!
40. I was really sick twice when in elementary school. At that time, I could only say that it was something wrong with my esophogus. Now that I know the medication that I took was a liquid form of tagamet (which tastes gross), I know that I had extremely severe acid reflux.
41. I got tonsilitis from staph bacteria - not strep.
42. For two weeks in high school, I was sick with bacterial pneumonia.
43. That bacterial pneumonia robbed me of my stamina and it's never been up to the same level again.
44. The one thing that I miss the most from the Lutheran church is playing handbells.
45. I also love theater.
46. I really love being behind the scenes in theater rather than performing.
47. I am a "mutt" with my heritage - 7/16 German, 5/16 Lithuanian, 1/16 English, 1/16 Norweigen, 1/16 Dutch. 1/16 Irish
48. I figure that when it comes to my address and telephone number, I've nothing to hide because I can either be open or honest or be completely fearful.
49. My first "crush" was on Kenny G.
50. For a long time I thought boyfriend simply meant a boy that is a friend.
51. After I learned better, it irritated me when my mom would call my friends my "girlfriends."
52. My favorite time of the church year is the eight days from Passion/Palm Sunday going through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and to Easter.
53. My second favorite time of the church year is Advent.
54. My third favorite time of the church year is Lent.
55. I can write or tell all about how the season of Mardi Gras and many of the traditions are related to Christianity and make sense.
56. The one poem that is serious that I can recite by heart is Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening."
57. Most, if not all, of the other poems that I know by heart are very silly.
58. I know and can sing the first verse of many hymns by memory. You just need to ask me if I know the hymn.
59. I'd like to learn how to take better videos.
60. I cannot have short hair because if it is cut too short, I constantly pull and tug on it wondering where all my hair went.
61. For a long time (as in years), I had an indent under the knuckle of one of my middle fingers simply from pressing a comb against it, but it's gone by now.
62. I got a huge blister from my laptop burning me and then Niblet popped it. The would healed, but it is still somewhat healing and can be seen on my leg.
63. I have never been stung by a bee.
64. I have never broken a bone.
65. I have had a lot of cavaties filled.
66. I have had to have my gums cleaned by a periodontist.
67. Some of the numbing was not working well during the cleaning and I had to let them know that it hurt.
68. When I was in 2nd grade, a boy accused me of saying a swear word. At that time, i had no idea what a swear word was and the word I had said was "eight."
69. When I was in 3rd grade, a guy knocked me flat on my face on the floor three times in one day.
70. When I was in 4th grade, I gave the teacher I had at the time a pair of blue slippers that my mom crocheted.
71. That teacher had to leave and the principal of the school would come in and tell us that our new teacher was going to be "Miss Patty Buttwhacker," so we told that to each other.
72. when I got my pair of first glasses, I could do this weird thing with them that made me look like a Cabbage Patch doll.
73. A friend of mine always told me that my hair looked yellow rather than blonde when I was young (as I was quite blonde when I was young.)
74. My favorite musical artists are singer/songwriters, most of them are Lutherans.
75. When I was small, I was supposed to watch Briana, and she poked me with a pin by leaning over me because it was open and then she did not get in trouble. I was so young that I didn't understand even a big safety pin couldn't pierce into my heart.
76. In 5th grade, we had an Easter Egg design contest and I designed mine to look like the cocker spaniel we had - using her real fur on the egg. We then kept it for as long as possible until it started to stink.
77. I do have to watch the end of Craig Ferguson just to see the cat or other animal to see what it does.
78. I first bought a truck by getting a student loan and it was a huge blue Ford, but then it didn't work well at all.
79. I got the little white Chevy S-10 with eyes by asking if I could use the money my grandma had saved for college because of the full scholarship I received.
80. I received a full scholarship and got into Honors College at McNeese.
81. Among the people that actually stayed in Honors College, I was the only one that did not graduate with honors (I was one tenth of a point short at a 3.4 GPA!)
82. I graduated 6th in my high school class with a GPA of 3.7.
83. The only reason I did not graduate at a higher place is because I took the challenging courses - Advanced Math, Calculus, Physics - instead of taking the easy A courses.
84. The earliest memory I have of really knowing that God exists is when I figured that if Jesus could let Peter walk on the water, he could let me walk on the air, so I'd jump off this tiny stool and I knew that my feet were not touching the ground, but I was walking.
85. I went to literary rally in Biology when I was a sophomore in high school.
86. I can often skip into telling a random story when a random thing happens - ask Lynn about bugs flying into my face!
87. I actually organized, set up, and advertised a concert for my favorite band - without any help from anybody else - and I did it because I wanted ministry to happen!
88. I gave my 6th grade teachers earrings that my dad made, except for the one that didn't wear earrings - she got a peacock feather pin.
89. I actually cried on my last day of middle school.
90. Oddly, the "best" break-up with a guy that I ever had occured without a hug, without any words, and just a look at each other, and yes, we were right next to each other.
91. I get very irritated when news anchors cannot say words correctly - simular, juror, storms, etc.
92. "Anyways" tends to bother me a lot. I know it is archaic, but it's wrong. The only way it doesn't bother me is when people purposely say it to try to irritate me.
93. However, I've gotten much better at ignoring when "anyways" is said in a TV show or on a movie.
94. I think it is very strange that whelmed and overwhelmed mean the same things.
95. I can't stand needles and will only get shots when I need them.
96. I do love to cook, but I won't cook seafood (I will cook with vegetables even though I can't eat them.)
97. There are a few vegetables I can eat - cooked carrot slices in stew and tiny pieces of bell pepper in a stew or noodle dish.
98. I can eat and love the onion rings from Cotten's and don't understand why they don't upset up my stomach (and they are the ONLY onions that I eat as I hate onions, too!)
99. I play piano, but I'm not good at reading the bass clef, so I chord off of the top where the letter chords are written and this is known as "faking."
100. I also play the recorder. (The instrument, not a tape recorder.)

It is now 12:49am Central.

so, this took just about an hour to write.

also, a lot more came to mind with the music stuff. i'm sure that each could create a story that would create many more facts.

See, it's not really that hard!
